Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Ph.D., Behavioral Sciences, University of Chicago, 1979. Interests: non-experimental research design and analysis, ecology and evolution of family relationships and of behavioral development; primate demography and life histories, parent-offspring relationships; infancy and the ontogeny of behavior and social relationships, conservation education and behavioral aspects of conservation. Recent ActivitiesJeanne Altmann served as a member of the board of the Museum Learning Collaborative, University of Pittsburgh, Learning Research and Development Center, and a member of the Board of External Advisors, Wisconsin Regional Primate Research Center. She also served as Chair for the Scientific Advisory Committee, Integrated Nonhuman Primate Biomaterials and Information Resource. She is a manuscript reviewer for Animal Behaviour, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, American Naturalist, Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology, Developmental Psychobiology, Ecology, International Journal of Primatology, Journal of Gerontology: Psychological Sciences, Journal of Mammalogy, National Geographic Research, Nature, Science, Oikos, Psychological Bulletin, and Zoo Biology.
